Today my good friend and her husband went totally above and beyond. They have gone the extra mile before, but today was great.
I just made it back home a few minutes ago(about 8:50pm) after leaving the house at 12:30pm to walk the mall w/my mother-in-law. I left the house about 12:30pm and headed to Babies R Us to get M a towel for the beach. At about 1:20pm we left there to head to the mall to meet grandma. Right after leaving the parking lot my car starting shifting funny(this happened about 3 months ago and I was really really low on oil) so I pulled over and checked my oil. It looked about 2 quarts low. Great I thought I just checked it last week and it was OK. So I opened my truck thinking I had some back there and I didn't. I knew I wasn't to far from the mall, the kids were getting hungry and the closest auto store was the other direction quite a ways. So I figured we'd go to the mall then after wards I would find a parts store. So we got to the mall walked around got N candy(Grandma spoils him what can you do*shrug*). At about 5:15pm we left to go home. I drove around trying to find a part store w/no luck what so ever. Finally I decided to head home and just stop at the one by the house. At this time I'm mad cuz I can't find a store and N's tired and fighting to nap. So I call Cole, her being the nice sister she is tells me well there is a reason you did all that driving and so on. I get off the phone w/her and am on the highway, hubby calls I tell him how I still haven't gotten oil yet, but I'll get some by the house. Then I let him go cuz there's a toll. So I'm driving get to another toll, pay that. Then I start smelling burning. I'm thinking great my car's over heating or on fire, I'm going to have to jump out and grab the kids. Mind you at this time they are both FINALLY sleeping. Then the car starts not wanting to accelerate. Now I'm really worried. Then the car starts pulling to the side. O'shoot!!! is all I could think(ok really the other word, but I'm being good). I pull over to the side of the road and then it hits me that my tire just died. I'm still in denial at this point I get got then remember the hazard lights, so I push those really quite, close the door and YES there it is my drivers side front is flat. I'm so drained at this point I start crying, I'm still not totally sure why since it was just a flat, but anyways, I try calling hubby even thought I know he's at work and can't really do anything or answer. Then I call my brother, and start crying that I don't know how to work the spare or anything in my car. At this point I remember that exit I was by and it was close to my work, so I end up calling my good friend from work and ask her if I can borrow her husband for awhile. I tell them what's going on and they are happy to help. He even brings their SUV just in case we had to leave my car, there was room for the kids. So he comes and changes my tire. Which didn't look so hard, though I don't think I could have gotten off the nuts. Then we find out that the spare is flat-badly flat. Thankfully not that far off ramp is a gas station so we stop at the gas station fill up the tire, drive it to their house to make sure it was ok. By this time it's almost 7pm both kids are crying, M was hungry so was N, but he had a fly on him that wouldn't leave(I found out we are scared of those too). Once we get to their house I feed M, my friend was so nice and made us dinner(Mac & Cheese N's fave). And N got to play w/best friend for a while. At the same time her husband had to get gas so he got me 2 quarts of oil cuz I had made a comment about my day w/my car. It was just so sweet of them. I'm just so grateful! So I guess Cole was right after all. There was a reason I did all that extra driving by the mall.
Now I've got to figure out when to get new tires and how hubby AND I are getting to work tomorrow.
