Appointment Updates

Yesterday M had her 6 month well visit-yes 2 months late. Her appointment went really well. She is just over 21lbs and 28ins long, which puts her in the 95th percentile for both height and weight. I knew she was big, but the doctor telling me 95th% was like man she's big! At lest she's staying on track! Her head size was in the 30th percentile, which I thought was weird, but that's still on the same track as it was from the start so the doctor wasn't worried. I did ask the doctor about seeing if she could get an xray of her hips to make 100% sure she doesn't have hip displasa. He had no problems with that since I told him about my dad and how we weren't sure if that's what he had or not, and about my walking problems as a child. He also agreed that if we do it now and she had it, it would be easier to treat and watch. That doctor is our favorite, he really listens to us and he's always up front with us which we like. Over all she's doing good. She'll go back in 6 weeks for the 2nd half of her flu shot and her 9 month shots. We also have N's 3 year well visit at the same time to make it easier on us.

Today N had his Speech Evaluation. He did really well, as far as behaving, though he's usually good anyways. It came down to he is behind in all the areas except for motor skills. Most of it wasn't to behind, but the speech he was very behind. And they think that the other areas were behind cuz of that. Like social skills, yes he's very shy, but they think it also has to do that he can't communicate with other kids. They told me some things to try to help us communicate with him better. Since he's really not into LOOKING at the books right now(he just likes to flip the pages once or twice then it's done) I'm suppose to take pictures of his things (ie ball, cars, M, the cats) and put those in a book/album. Then go through that with him and tell him what it is and try and have him go through it. She also said to take pictures of Milk, Juice, and other things that he wants everyday, put them on the fridge for him so he can point to the picture or bring the picture to us went he wants something. This is suppose to help him not get so frustrated(and me) when he wants something. They also helped me with the paper work to try and get him into the program quicker. Which I thought was so nice of them. Right now we are not sure if he will be starting with the school districts program or Early Steps program. So at the moment it's wait and see who calls and were they send us. I'm just happy that we will be getting some help.
