15 Months

My little girl had her 15 month appointment today. It went really good. She looks wonderful. Growing great. She's 25.8 lbs(90th percentile) and 31 3/4" long(90th percentile). She's a little behind in the speech department...she only babbles no other words. The dr's a little concerned but not to much. He thinks she'll caught up with it soon, but he does want her to have a lead test just to be sure. I guess one of the signs of lead poisoning is speech delay. I'm not to worried I mean, N is speech delayed, I was and a few others in my family, I'm sure it's not lead related. Don't get me wrong I wish she would talk a little more it would make my life a little easier since I don't know what she wants half the time. She is starting to point so that's helping. She also had her OT today and she's a little concerned about her speech, but she also did an evaluation on her that is way more detailed then at the drs office. She told me some things to work on with her to try and help her along. She also said that the OT/Sensory may help with the speech also. She is going to talk to M's Early Steps lady to let her know that M may need speech therapy in the future, but for the moment we'll just be holding off till she turns 18 months and see where we stand then.

Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July everyone!!
Hopefully everyone had a fun and safe day today. I had to work til 6pm today, but it wasn't all bad. I was suppose to be in bridal, but ended up being the front end manager the whole day which now a days I love doing. I miss talking to the girls up there. When I got home I helped hubby finish up dinner by making broccoli and cheese while he finished cooked the steaks and potatoes on the grill. It was a nice dinner even though we didn't eat til 7:30. Then it was time for fireworks. A nice thing about living in Florida is that you can buy fireworks. Ok I could really care less but hubby loves it. Last year he got a few and N and I watched them from his bedroom window. N really liked them, so hubby went and got a few for this year too. This year I took two kitchen chairs out on to the lani and that's where the kids and I watched them from. I so wish I could have video taped the kids, mostly M was so cute especially the last one which was really cool. Every few seconds she would go "Look(or what sounded like look) OO" and then push back on me in excitement. It was really funny. N just keep saying "More Daddy!!"

Sweet Sleep

Last night was M's sleep study, it went pretty good. We got there at 7:40pm which we were suppose to be there at 7:45 so we could sign in and be ready, so good right?. Not so much! M and I, along with another mother and daughter, had to wait til they came and got us at 8pm. That was a little bit of a pain since is was already pasted M's bed time. Once we got up to the room it went pretty quickly-at lest it felt like it. Each of the kids there got their own nurse for the whole night, that was really nice. The whole process to hook her up to the wires took over an hr. She had
2 pads on each leg
4 pads on her chest
2 bands-one around her tummy the other around her chest(right under the armpits)
5 sensors on her face
6 sensors on her head that had to be glued on
this long plastic sensor that went between her nose and her lip
a nasal oxygen tube, but it didn't have oxygen in it
a sensor on her finger
And to top all that she also had diapers on her hands so she couldn't pull at any of the wires-I'm not even joking it was real preemie diapers. She was NOT happy about those, ok with any of it but really not those-or the nose things. During all this she got to watch Finding Nemo, so that helped a little bit.

After wards she went out pretty quick. Not that I was to surprised it was WAY passed her bed time at this point. I wasn't that tired, and I was really thirsty so I headed down to the cafeteria to get something to drink(and a bag of chips cuz they were calling to me:)! ) I also called hubby and told him she was sleeping and how it all went so far. I only spent about 20mins down there, besides they were "kicking" us out at 6am so I figured I better get some sleep. I had just gotten back in the room and was about to lay down when I heard her fussing. She had lost her bink so I gave it back to her, but during this moment she realized she couldn't grab her blanket and then freaked out. I tried to calm her down for about 10 mins with it only getting worse, so the nurse came in and helped me out. I ended up leaving so she couldn't see me. It took the nurse another 25mins or so to get her to fall back asleep. After that the nurse came and got me told me "She's stubborn!" No news here! She ended up waking up 2 other times and both times the nurse came in and got her back to sleep, I just laid there hoping and praying she didn't see me, cuz then it would have been worse. I know I'm a tough mom(as far as discipline goes), and if it was at home no problem I could get her to go back to sleep pretty easy. The problem was I couldn't really hug her or hold her which is what she wanted. And she also couldn't really hold her blanket like she normally does(she holds it up to her cheek-which was covered with tape). It was hard. I'm so glad the nurse took over. She just held her down so she couldn't roll around, and calmed her down til she went back out.
In the morning we were suppose to get up at 6am, but since she had the hard time going down, she wanted her to have some extra time so she didn't come wake me til 6:30. Then it was time to take all the stuff off. Which M did wonderfully!! She cried a few times(who wouldn't that had tape "riped" off your face), but it only lasted a second or so. She also got to finish watching the rest of Finding Nemo which helped of course! It took us over an hr to get home since it was rush hr traffic when we left. M got in a good 70min nap when we got home and I got a little one in too. Though hubby told me he knows I was really tired when I got home, cuz I had to make is lunch, and apparently I must have grabbed some of the deli meat paper along with the ham when I made is sandwich. Yeah I'm a little tired still! We will not find out the results for another 2-3 weeks.

N, N, N!

That's about all I have to say about today! This morning was M's follow up ear appointment, she's doing great everything looks good including her nose which is GREAT! Even with all this great news I had a little cloud hanging over me all day. On Saturday night daddy and N were rough housing like boys do, when I noticed that N had a red mark under his lip, I wasn't to worried about it just though he hit a toy or something while him and daddy were playing, but I still wanted daddy to look at it really quick. He said it looked like he was getting a cold sore. No big deal he's gotten them before, I just have to really make sure M doesn't steal is sippy cup and he washes his hands really good, for the next few days. Then yesterday it seemed to look a little different then normal(cold sore) or so I thought, I've never had one, but daddy assured me at every phone call it was fine. But still the whole day is just seemed to get worse, and the cloud started to form. Well, today it looked really bad and when daddy called at lunch I asked him about it again and him knowing I was worried told me just to call the dr, so I did, at 4:25pm-35mins before they close. I love our drs office they were like, don't you just live just a few mins away, just come right now we'll get you in really quick. So off we went 30mins later, N has a cold sore that turned into impetigo, which is some kind of bacteria infection thing...at lest that's what I understood. She thinks that cuz of his runny nose(thankfully the only sign of a cold that he's gotten) caused the cold sore to get the impetigo. Now he has 2 different ointments for the next 7 days, one is for 5 times a day and the other 3, but the dr wants them put on at different times, so it means that he'll be having to put ointment on it almost every hr of the day for the next 7 days. Got to love kids!!

Another Catch Up!

I know I know I've been really bad about posting. M still has her infection she's on her second course of meds-fingers crossed it works this time. Then last week I got really sick-I basically slept through two days, I think I had some kind of sinus infection or something, I still have a terrible cough. Now hubby's sick, thankfully N's seemed to miss it. Other than that not to much has been going on. We went to the beach the Saturday before Father's day which was fun. The kids and I also went today too, M LOVES the beach that girl is all smiles when we go! N likes it he has fun, he likes play grounds better.

Don't worry next week I'll be much better, it's a busy week, Monday is M's follow-up ear appointment and Tuesday night-Wednesday morning is her sleep study.

I do have a few photo's I wanted to share of the kids. We were having a little photo shot the other day and I got some cute pictures.

N when I told him to say cheese!

N's Silly Face

N HAD to read this magazine well going potty the other day.
It was to cute not to take a few pics!

M after she dropped her bik out of her mouth
M laughing she gets this funny mean look when she laughs which makes it even funnier!

Close up M!
This was about an hr before bedtime, I had just given them a snack and finished up doing the checkbook really quick before getting on PJ's and bed. I turn around after finishing(maybe 10mins) and this is what I found!!

Long time coming

I know I haven't posted in a while, I've just been so tired this week. I don't think my body has caught up with it's self since Monday's surgery.

Anyways, M's culture came back, she has a sinus infection, the technical term(just cuz they told me :) ) is Streptoccus pneumonia, it's a pretty common one they told me. They even were able to figure out what medicine was going to work the best for her, but it only cames in pill form so I had to find a pharmacy the could compound it into a liquid(didn't know they could do that did ya....ok well I didn't!). Of course the closest one was 20mins away, good thing it's only a one time thing! She's doing really good, she's been in a great mood this week, loud nosies are still bothering her, she'll start crying, but it's to be expected, I'm sure her ears are still sensitive.

Today we found out that she can climb on to N's bed. He has this stool that we got him to get into his bed when we first got it, and M has been able to get to the top of it for a few months now(about 4 or 5), Well, today she was at the top and I walked into our bedroom and came back and she wasn't on the stool, I looked in their room, didn't see her, and then I heard her laugh, and she was on his bed jumping into his pillows. N thought it was great!

N's last day of school was Wednesday. He got this HUGE as big as him dinosaur book from his teachers. I guess he asked if he could take it home and they said yes. So now we have this book that will not fit anywhere, I'm going to have to take a picture of it. Anyways, it's a good book, it has about every dinosaur you can think of in there. Well, on Tuesday his class had a little program they did for the kids that were going to kindergarten (the ones in the graduation hats). It was really cute, though as you can see from the pictures N wasn't happy! When we first got there they were just about to start and N looked happy, then he saw me and he just started doing his wiper face and it stayed til the end. The little guy had me almost in tears by the end, cuz he wanted to get down and see us so bad, he was almost crying. (sorry the pictures are so dark I'm not sure what was up with the camera, I tried the whole time to fix it)

N is in the red shirt to the right, in front of the teacher in the white.

N also got to play our Wii for the first time this week. I got Wii Fit for Mother's Day(by the way I love it!! if anyone was wondering:) ) I was talking to another mom that has it and she said her 3yr old loves the soccer game, so I figured I would let N give it a try. He helped me make him a Mii(the little people that you play with that you can make look like you or how ever you want). He had a ball, he even did better than me.

As far as potty training......N has been doing GREAT! He's only had one accident in the last 2 weeks and that was at school last week, he just didn't make it to the potty on time. So I am calling him 100% potty trained!! On a funny note, ok two! Last Saturday we meet grandma and papa at the mall, N did really good told us when he had to go. I got him this folding potty cover. It goes over a toilet making it smaller like his one at home. Well, on one of the trips, I must not had it on the toilet right, it broke in half and he fell in. Thankfully he hadn't gone yet! I started laughing cuz his face was like what was that. He then was laughing and saying "I fell potty!" He thought it was the funniest thing and told Daddy as soon as he got out of the bathroom. The second was yesturday. He was holding himself
Mommy-"Do you have to go potty?"
N(still holding himself)- "NO!"
Mommy-"Well why are you holding your penis?"
N-"I like hold penis."
Hubby and I started laughing so hard. He was so matter of fact about it. That was so not the response I was excepting.
And lastly. We have been looking/thinking about getting another car seat as a spare. We have 2 spares at the moment, but they don't fit in the Trans Am very nicely and we have been trying to see if we can find one that would let us fit two car seats in grandpa's truck in case we needed to in a pinch. Basically I've been on the look out for a good cheap car seat. I had one in mind it's a good price($45), but I wasn't totally sold on it, I wasn't really sure if the design would fit in the cars like we needed it to. Anyways, Tuesday I had to run to Walmart for somethings, I walked by the diapers and there on the clearance rack was a really good car seat for $50(normally $70), I grabbed it. It's really nice, and N LOVES it. We decided since N likes this one so much we would use the one he has now for the spare and he can use this in my car. This is how much he loves it.....I brought it in the house to set up the straps and everything, this is how he sat for a good 30 mins, he wanted to be buckled up and wouldn't let me unbuckle him.

After Surgery Update

Sorry it's taken so long to write this. Once we got home we got the kids in bed to finish the nap they started in the car then I went to lay down for awhile and ended up napping from about 12-3. Can you believe I'm still tired! We just got the kids down for the night so this was the first chance I've had to write.

Anywho, on to M. We were told to get there at 7am, we got there at 6:50am. Not bad, well I'm guess we were suppose to be there earlier, cuz the lady at the sign in asked when they told us to be there and I told her and she just seemed to be upset at the schedule people. Here's the "stations" that happen, to help explain the rest...

Sign in-They get all the info(insurance/history), co-pay
Triage-They check the vitals, ask more questions about history, what/when ate
Waiting room-play area and waiting for next station
Pre-op/Holding-This is were you wait to talk to the all the drs that will be working on your child.
Sugery(for the kids)
Waiting room #2(for the family)- This is a VERY small room that you sit in for about 20mins during the surgery til the dr comes in and tells you it went well
Recovery-is is well, recovery, but were you first wait to reunite with your child then sit for 30mins so the nurses can make sure they are good to go.

So we got to the first waiting room pretty quite, really even into holding fast. On our way to holding at first the nurses were saying that N couldn't go in there cuz he was under 12, so N and I stayed in the waiting room. About 5 mins later one of the nurses came and got me, and said she was so sorry "we don't like to separate the families I don't know what they were thinking". So we sit in there for a good hr. N was in heaven they had a TON of dinosaurs and even some volcanoes to go with them. M was getting pretty fussy she just wanted to go, we finally sat her in the stroller and she just watched the TV til the dr came. Then it was off to the small room, were N, daddy and I finally got to eat(I was smart this time and brought along donuts for us to eat while we waited.) Once the dr told us she did good, and gave us the drops for her ears, we headed to recovery to wait for M. It was sort of funny cuz N didn't really ask for M til we were there, then he kept asking when sissy was coming. We could hear her coming down the hall crying, not to bad, just upset. Once she got her daddy and blanket she was fine. She did really good only fussed a few times with in the 30mins we had to be in there. Totally unlike N that cried pretty much the whole 30mins, but she deals with pain much better than him.

For the rest of the day she's been doing great, when she does fall or bump into something, she does seem to cry a little more than normal, but who wouldn't after just having surgery. Hubby and I both made a comment that she seems much happier, it's hard to explain, but she just seems to have a smile on her face ever since she got up from her nap. Well, I'm off to bed, this mama needs more sleep!
