Our Busy Day

I'm sure everyone is wondering how everything went yesterday. Sorry I didn't write yesterday but it was very busy(as you'll read in moment) and I also had to work last night. By the time I got home I was way to tired besides it was already 10:30pm I didn't really think anyone was going to look at it by then. On to our day.....

First thing in the morning we stopped by the bank to make sure everything was good with the loan before we headed to the car dealership. Didn't think it would take to long, which it didn't, but the lady was already with someone so we had to wait 10mins before getting in. After that it was off to the dealership. During the drive I realized my phone wasn't working. It had froze up(AGAIN!!) I was pissed to say the lest this just happened to me a month ago and they had to send me a new phone. We get to the dealership, but I was still on hold trying to deal w/my phone so hubby goes to see the guy and see about test driving it. I was on the phone for 24mins trying to get a different phone which didn't work, but that's a whole other issue. So after that we pick out the car we want(which one exactly) and they start the figures. Which of course took forever, and then they were trying to get it more than what they said last week. We got it back down and after 2hrs there the kids were getting hungry and we couldn't get hold of the bank lady to see what they needed next. So the dealership let hubby take our almost-our-car to the bank and I took the kids to McDonald's for lunch. At this point I was going to take the kids home for a little while til hubby got the bank stuff done, but I also realized that it was getting really close to the time that we had to be leaving for M's appointment, so I then had to track down hubby(remember my phone isn't working) cuz I had the down payment checks. I meet him at the bank, then it was 30mins relax at home for the kids, before getting back in the car for a 45min drive to the Dr's office. SIGH and it was only 1pm.

Off to the drs appointment. Usually we go to the office down the street, but we wanted to get in as soon as we could since we didn't know how serious it was. The appointment went great in and out. M does need the surgery to have her tonsils and adnoids removed. Her tonsils don't look that large, but with the results of the sleep study it's best to take them out. I'll try and explain what I was told. They have a scale for the results as far as their breathing goes, and they(the drs) like kids to be below 1. M in non REM was at a 3 in REM(deepest sleep) it was 8. Not great. He said it wasn't a life or death issue, but it wouldn't get better, mostly worse as she gets older. He also told me that she will not stop breathing so that made me feel A LOT better, that's been my biggest scare since I found out the results. Which is crazy since I've never been one of the moms that has to watch their sleeping child to make sure they are still breathing, but lately I've felt like I should check. We are having it done Sept 8th and she will have to stay over night, cuz of her age. I wanted it done right away, but the dr doesn't want her traveling for 14 days after the surgery, in case of bleeding or complications.

During all this(the above) Hubby was still at the bank getting the check. Poor guy! The lady was really nice but hadn't done a car loan in a long time and they also just got a new system, so she had to call and make sure she was doing it all correct. Hubby finally made it out of there about the time I was leaving the dr's office. O'at this point I found out my phone started working again-thank goodness!! So I was able to talk to hubby, and let him know everything. Before we left the dealer, they had told us that it would take maybe 30mins to detail the car and do the pinstripe(it looks really good with pinstripes) and do the rest of the paperwork. Hubby was there for over an hr waiting for the detailing, and pinstripe. Which first off they didn't do that great of a job and second there still isn't any pinstripe cuz they didn't have enough black, we have to go back Friday. SIGH! I had to be at work at 4:30 which means leave the house by 4 thankfully grandpa stopped by to talk to N about the new car so he watched the kids till hubby made it home.

It was a LONG day, thankfully work wasn't to bad. It was a little crazy cuz someone called out so I had to watch fine china and another department, which was a nice change of pace.

And to end this post here is a picture of the new SUV.....minus the pinstripe :) it's the best I could do it was so humid the lens keep fogging up. And it was still drizzling a little.

I called M's nero dr today-yes I was getting inpatient, can you blame me! They called me back about an hr ago, but I've been researching all the aberrations they gave me so I could know what I was talking about, or at lest have a better understanding of it. She is having obstructive sleep apnea(OSA) in deep REM sleep. The dr wants M to go to an ENT(ear, nose, and throat) dr to have a T&A(tonsils and adnoids removed) done. So it's back to her ENT dr. I was able to get her an appointment next week(Tuesday), I'm so glad I was able to get in so quick. Next will be what kind of surgery he'll want to do(if any). Hopefully it will be the small and we can get it down the week after(in 2 weeks) so she'll be good to go for Vacation. A "nice" little tidbit I just read on our ENT dr's website was that the most common neck abscess are caused by the streptococcus bacteria, and if you remember that's what bacteria her sinus culture came back as.
This mom is feeling a big sigh of relief that Madison may finally sleep through the night, though now I'm a little nervous about what is causing this and how we will take care of it. N's quite time is just about up so it's time for mommy to get off the computer. I just wanted everyone to know right away.

$22/4 hours

I am so upset tonight. The kids and I had a great day we finally got out of the house. We went to the mall to pick up our pictures, then the kids played at the play area for awhile. They were being great. We got home, I got the mail and in it was one of the two packages I've been waiting for. See for the last 7 days M has managed to unscrew her earrings at lest once a day if not 3 times. Thankfully I've found the earrings each time...backings are another story, but I can pick up those for cheap. After about the 10 millionth time I decided that I would get her some hoops, they should close better and be harder to get off. She might unclip it, but getting them off would be hard. I found some at a descent price $22 w/shipping(I tell ya baby earrings are way more than adult, that's way the girl only has 4 pairs) and they are SOO CUTE. Anyways, I ordered them online and got them today. So I cleaned them and put them in, she played w/them for a min then left them alone. About 2 hrs later she was really tired so I laid her down, it was getting close to dinner so I went to get her and she was just playing in her crib, then I noticed it......She had gotten one of them out...UGH!! So I moved her blankets around trying to find it, and there it was all smashed up. She must have been chewing on it, there was one stone missing and it was all mangled. I just wanted to cry. I tried to fix it but all I did was lose two more stones in the process. I think I'm going to have to get some new backing maybe the ones she has now are just worn out. I don't know, I just wish they would have lasted a little longer, 4 hours is nothing. I have no idea why she's even doing it, she's had them for a year now and never touched them. It's usually in her crib that it happens. The only other time was in the car the other day, but she was being really fussy she even managed to pull out her hair clip and the rubber band during that trip.

Car Shopping

Today was very exciting, we went and looked at cars. In case you don't know someone-hubby- is in need of a new car. The poor TA(trans am) has seen better days, and he's been a little slow on giving it up. Not that I blame him it's his last piece from single hood. Don't think I wouldn't miss it either cuz I will. Not that I've driven it in over a yr, but I loved having it on Sundays. I got to feed the little speed demon in me. So after talking about selling the TA for over a yr now, he's finally agreed it's time. It's also a great time cuz hopefully(fingers crossed) in early Aug we will be driving-yes driving-to Chicago. Though my car is nice and holds us and would make it no problem, it would be VERY packed if we drove it. Today we finally made it to Carmax, we decided to start there since they would have a large selection of different models and it's in one spot so we don't have to get the kids in and out of the car....big plus. They also have good prices and not pushy. After spending about an hr there and having a great sales guy helping us. We(ok hubby) narrowed it down to 3-Chevy TrailBlazer; Mitsubishi Outlander; and Pontiac Torrent. Hubby did some research online when we got home and I think he's leaning more towards the Outlander. We are going to see what a Mitsubishi dealer will give it to us for a brand new one, since one of them around here still has some '07's around and I'm sure they are also trying to get rid of the '08 now too, it's almost time for the '09's to come out. We'll see, next is cleaning the TA up, which will be Tuesday's project....the kids will have fun they loved it when we washed my car a few weeks ago.

A year ago this month, our minds were racing with words like cerebral palsy, and hypertonia. For me I did hours of internet searching on these words (and other words that came up along the way), just to try and find answers to why our daughter was not sitting or rolling. The more I read the more I worried and the more questions I had. Since then a lot has happened, I've learned not to read to much into what I find online, though some of it has helped me understand things, they usually are writing about the worse cases and that's what makes you worry. Cuz of M's therapist's, she's doing great. She's only slightly behind in her fine motor skills(and then we have the sensory issues, but we aren't counting that right now). I finally feel like I can semi breathe, since we are starting to see how this will effect her as she grows. There are still a lot of unanswered questions left and we are still searching for the "what" that is causing everything, but I'm starting to feel like we are getting somewhere.

As far as M's OT evaluation today it went great. She qualifies for OT(not that I really doubted it), and her new therapist is great. She was talking about wanting her to go at lest once a week, but maybe even twice a week. The best news is that she's a GREAT candidate for the sensory program. She did have some thoughts on her balancing issue. Which was that she thinks it maybe her eyes, that they are not "seeing" depth that in conjunctions with her sensory issues on space could affect balance/falling. So I'm thinking I might try and find a pediatric eye dr for her so we can have it checked out. At this point I'm pretty much ready to check out everything. She also told me about this book on parenting sensory issued children. I checked it out on line and it looks really helpful so when we go for our play date at the mall tomorrow I'm going to see if I can find it. So all in all it was a wonderful and informative meeting.

Family Pictures

Every June we go and have family pictures done. Usually we go to Old Navy and get their 4th of July shirt cuz all our sizes come with the same design. Well this year I wasn't happy with the design at all and for a few weeks I searched MANY stores looked at all the 4th of July shirts seeing if I could come up with a set that would look good together. I almost had it and then couldn't get my size. At the same time I had been weeding out the kids clothes of items that didn't fit and with M seeing if any of her 24m sizes might fit yet. When I ran across this dress I had gotten her a month ago. I didn't really get it for a reason it was just cute and on sale, but a this moment it hit me, I would go look and see if I could find a dress for me that would match. That same day I got daddy and N's shirts at Target while I was picking up prescriptions. Then we headed to the mall so I could look and the kids could get out of the house and I found a dress(and on sale for $16 no less). So here is the finished product. I think they came out great!!

New Breast Cancer Tool

I really wanted to write a blog about this since I found out about it last week and I'm now a little obsessed with trying to get every women I know to aware about this new test.
I learned about it on the news last week. They were doing a little blurb about it and I think it's a great tool. Anyways, it's called Halo Breast Pap, it's a machine that can test breast fluid and find out if you have breast cancer 8 years before a mammogram can. This is cuz the cancer starts in the breast ductal system before a lump is formed. I think it's great since most drs will not give mammograms til you are in your 30's(if not older) this is great for younger women (like me) that have a family history of breast cancer. I'm very lucky that my dr is very proactive and I get an ultrasound every year to make sure, but many dr's don't do that. Basically they are trying to get this to be like a Pap Smear, were you have it done every year. It takes about 5mins and doesn't hurt. It was just FDA approved and at the moment insurances are not covering it, but it's only about $125 to have it done.
I have included some links for you to read more about this in the blog(see underlined words) but if you do a search on Google under Halo breast cancer you can get tons more.

15 Months

My little girl had her 15 month appointment today. It went really good. She looks wonderful. Growing great. She's 25.8 lbs(90th percentile) and 31 3/4" long(90th percentile). She's a little behind in the speech department...she only babbles no other words. The dr's a little concerned but not to much. He thinks she'll caught up with it soon, but he does want her to have a lead test just to be sure. I guess one of the signs of lead poisoning is speech delay. I'm not to worried I mean, N is speech delayed, I was and a few others in my family, I'm sure it's not lead related. Don't get me wrong I wish she would talk a little more it would make my life a little easier since I don't know what she wants half the time. She is starting to point so that's helping. She also had her OT today and she's a little concerned about her speech, but she also did an evaluation on her that is way more detailed then at the drs office. She told me some things to work on with her to try and help her along. She also said that the OT/Sensory may help with the speech also. She is going to talk to M's Early Steps lady to let her know that M may need speech therapy in the future, but for the moment we'll just be holding off till she turns 18 months and see where we stand then.

Fourth of July

Happy Fourth of July everyone!!
Hopefully everyone had a fun and safe day today. I had to work til 6pm today, but it wasn't all bad. I was suppose to be in bridal, but ended up being the front end manager the whole day which now a days I love doing. I miss talking to the girls up there. When I got home I helped hubby finish up dinner by making broccoli and cheese while he finished cooked the steaks and potatoes on the grill. It was a nice dinner even though we didn't eat til 7:30. Then it was time for fireworks. A nice thing about living in Florida is that you can buy fireworks. Ok I could really care less but hubby loves it. Last year he got a few and N and I watched them from his bedroom window. N really liked them, so hubby went and got a few for this year too. This year I took two kitchen chairs out on to the lani and that's where the kids and I watched them from. I so wish I could have video taped the kids, mostly M was so cute especially the last one which was really cool. Every few seconds she would go "Look(or what sounded like look) OO" and then push back on me in excitement. It was really funny. N just keep saying "More Daddy!!"

Sweet Sleep

Last night was M's sleep study, it went pretty good. We got there at 7:40pm which we were suppose to be there at 7:45 so we could sign in and be ready, so good right?. Not so much! M and I, along with another mother and daughter, had to wait til they came and got us at 8pm. That was a little bit of a pain since is was already pasted M's bed time. Once we got up to the room it went pretty quickly-at lest it felt like it. Each of the kids there got their own nurse for the whole night, that was really nice. The whole process to hook her up to the wires took over an hr. She had
2 pads on each leg
4 pads on her chest
2 bands-one around her tummy the other around her chest(right under the armpits)
5 sensors on her face
6 sensors on her head that had to be glued on
this long plastic sensor that went between her nose and her lip
a nasal oxygen tube, but it didn't have oxygen in it
a sensor on her finger
And to top all that she also had diapers on her hands so she couldn't pull at any of the wires-I'm not even joking it was real preemie diapers. She was NOT happy about those, ok with any of it but really not those-or the nose things. During all this she got to watch Finding Nemo, so that helped a little bit.

After wards she went out pretty quick. Not that I was to surprised it was WAY passed her bed time at this point. I wasn't that tired, and I was really thirsty so I headed down to the cafeteria to get something to drink(and a bag of chips cuz they were calling to me:)! ) I also called hubby and told him she was sleeping and how it all went so far. I only spent about 20mins down there, besides they were "kicking" us out at 6am so I figured I better get some sleep. I had just gotten back in the room and was about to lay down when I heard her fussing. She had lost her bink so I gave it back to her, but during this moment she realized she couldn't grab her blanket and then freaked out. I tried to calm her down for about 10 mins with it only getting worse, so the nurse came in and helped me out. I ended up leaving so she couldn't see me. It took the nurse another 25mins or so to get her to fall back asleep. After that the nurse came and got me told me "She's stubborn!" No news here! She ended up waking up 2 other times and both times the nurse came in and got her back to sleep, I just laid there hoping and praying she didn't see me, cuz then it would have been worse. I know I'm a tough mom(as far as discipline goes), and if it was at home no problem I could get her to go back to sleep pretty easy. The problem was I couldn't really hug her or hold her which is what she wanted. And she also couldn't really hold her blanket like she normally does(she holds it up to her cheek-which was covered with tape). It was hard. I'm so glad the nurse took over. She just held her down so she couldn't roll around, and calmed her down til she went back out.
In the morning we were suppose to get up at 6am, but since she had the hard time going down, she wanted her to have some extra time so she didn't come wake me til 6:30. Then it was time to take all the stuff off. Which M did wonderfully!! She cried a few times(who wouldn't that had tape "riped" off your face), but it only lasted a second or so. She also got to finish watching the rest of Finding Nemo which helped of course! It took us over an hr to get home since it was rush hr traffic when we left. M got in a good 70min nap when we got home and I got a little one in too. Though hubby told me he knows I was really tired when I got home, cuz I had to make is lunch, and apparently I must have grabbed some of the deli meat paper along with the ham when I made is sandwich. Yeah I'm a little tired still! We will not find out the results for another 2-3 weeks.
